EV Charging Connected to Individual Apartment Meter in Strata 'Acceleration Kit'
Many electric vehicle owners or future electric vehicle owners living in strata buildings feel 'locked out' of EV charging in their own individual lot carspace.
Electricians can provide a quote on connecting a new general power outlet or a Level 2 EV chargepoint to your individual apartment meter but then what?
This is an 'Acceleration Kit' which an EV owner or potential EV owner in strata can use to help progress through the complexity of dealing with strata. Break through 'red tape', engage the right people, bring the right paperwork, take the burden off other people you rely on for approval and make it easier for them to approve.
There is a gap between an electrician quote and dealing with strata managers, strata lawyers (too expensive!) and strata committee members to get EV charging equipment setup at your private lot carspace. Why don't you get approval to do this now in a way which will be compatible with a future centralised load management system which isn't installed yet? Note: we only recommend this kit to people who have their private apartment meter located adjacent to the carparking area i.e. not in an electrical cabinet on the 5th floor of the apartment building.
The acceleration kit covers:
* Understanding the units of measurement
* How to tell what the breaker size is for my apartment
* How to tell if I have a smart meter for my apartment
* 10 steps to consider for an individual lot owner wanting to install EV charging connected to your own private meter
* How to pass a sustainability infrastructure resolution
* DRAFT Application form to my strata committee (who don't have an application form for this yet) for their approval
* Sample motions for an AGM or EGM
* Sample by-law for an AGM or EGM
* Guidelines from NSW Fire and Rescue on EV Charging in strata
* Additional Resources
Wattblock's Acceleration Kit will save you hours of research. We make it easy for you to quit talking, get charging and start driving!
