Are we on contract? It pays to ask the question

​After meeting with my new executive committee I had a chat to the deputy chair regarding our rising energy bill.

“Surely, we are on an electricity contract”. It seemed highly unlikely that we wouldn’t be on one.

“Let’s just check to see” said the deputy chair.

As it turned out, our building had been on an electricity contract in the past. However, no-one had been monitoring when we “fell out of contract” and started paying higher electricity rates.

A couple of phone calls and we were locked in for 2 years, saving 18% on our quarterly bills.
