Together, Let's Electrify Strata

This industry recognised project is assisting NSW-based apartment blocks to "electrify"  with:
- solar
- batteries
- EV charging
- heat pumps and more.

A short video on "What is Electrify Strata" can be found here.

Search
300 service providers and which ones are near your strata building on the Electrify Strata Installer Directory here.

Click on the local council area on the right to track the electrification progress of strata schemes in that area if you are an Owner, Committee Member or Potential Buyer seeking an eco-apartment.

Click on the drop pin for each individual strata for more information on that strata and links to free online calculators and resources.

Electrify Strata covers a total of 49,247 strata schemes across 29 local council areas in Greater Sydney, which is equivalent to 57% of the total strata schemes in New South Wales. The coverage is below.

If your strata has installed:
- solar
- batteries
- EV charging
- heat pump for domestic hot water
- electricity monitoring device
- embedded network
- has an EV on carshare
- eMobility station for e-Bikes
- has a NABERS energy rating
which is not listed for your strata scheme, please email us at  [email protected].

An additional 11,391 NSW stratas are mapped as work in progress where we have completed mapping the location of the strata schemes but haven't yet enriched the data with solar, battery, ev charging etc
We have also trialled mapping one postcode in the Burleigh Heads area of Queensland as part of a comparative analysis across the states of NSW and Queensland.

For comparison, the take-up rate of solar panels on residential houses is approximately 37%, which is the highest take-up rate of rooftop solar globally. Sydney-based strata schemes are at approximately the same adoption rate for solar, that residential houses in Australia were at in 2011. Strata buildings in Sydney are twelve times less likely to have solar than standalone residences across Australia in 2024. Now that over 250,000 home batteries have been installed in Australia, strata buildings in Sydney are over 100 times less likely to have batteries than standalone houses across Australia. However, Sydney apartment buildings are ahead of U.S. based apartment buildings as can be seen on this video "What can U.S. cities learn from Sydney on electrification of apartment buildings" available here.

Appendix C - Comparative Analysis of Strata Scheme Density in 12 High Density Local Council Areas in Sydney
The following graphs show the total number of lots by local government area and the total number of strata schemes by local government area. City of Sydney has the highest density of overall strata lots at 112,267 (meaning the biggest strata buildings are in the City of Sydney) while in the set of 12 high density councils, Randwick has the most strata schemes with 2,782. However, across Greater Sydney
Sutherland has the most strata schemes at 3,800 ahead of Canterbury Bankstown at 3,691 and Northern Beaches with 3,666.

When we look at the spread of strata buildings with different numbers of lots, Randwick has the most strata schemes within the category of 6-10 lots, Inner West has the most strata schemes within the category of 11-20 lots and the City of Sydney has the most strata schemes in every category from 21-50 lots or above.
