Strata buildings demand government support as electric vehicle adoption accelerates

Strata owners face a number of issues related to electric vehicle recharging, such as who to charge, how to bill, and how to accommodate the growing demand for electric vehicles. Due to the high level of interest in this subject, the City of Sydney has provided an the grant funding for a limited number of buildings to participate as part of their "Sustainable Sydney 2030" initiative. According to Lord Mayor Clover Moore, “Improving the energy efficiency of buildings is the most cost effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With more and more residents living in apartments, we are committed to assisting Owners Corporations reduce energy consumption and costs.” Registration Process Strata managers or building managers may register their own contact details rather than a building contact. A limited number of buildings (initially 20) will be selected for a fully funded deep dive assessment based on a screening process to ensure a representative sample. The program is currently limited to the City of Sydney. However, buildings that register from the broader NSW region and Queensland may still be eligible to receive information and study results.
